Terence Blanchard’s Champion

Following the success of Fire Shut Up in My Bones last season, Grammy Award–winning jazz composer Terence Blanchard returns to the Met with his operatic take on the life of boxer Emile Griffith. Bass-baritones Ryan Speedo Green and Eric Owens portray the champion prizefighter at different points throughout his life, with Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducting a dynamic, fast-paced production directed by James Robinson.
