The Bayreuth Festival remembers Prof. Dr. Udo Bermbach, who passed away on July 10 in Hamburg. As one of the most renowned Wagner experts, he set standards with his work on the Bayreuth Festival and the ideology-driven reception of Wagner. As founder and co-editor of the international journal “wagnerspectrum”, he provided important impulses for Wagner research. In 2000, he worked as a conceptual dramaturge on Jürgen Flimm’s Bayreuth “Ring” production.
