Katharina Wagner will remain Artistic Director of the Bayreuth Festival for another five years!

Minister of State Blume, Minister of State Roth and Prof Katharina Wagner have agreed on the further structural development of the Festival. The future festival management from 2025 should be able to concentrate fully on its artistic work. It has been agreed that the organisation of the Festival will be adapted in the interests of a clear, efficient structure. Management will be placed entirely in the hands of a General Manager; this new position is to be filled as soon as possible via a search process. The Festival Director will be responsible for the artistic area within the company and will have full artistic freedom within the framework of the artistic budget provided by the shareholders. Festival Director Prof. Katharina Wagner: ‘I am delighted with the trust placed in me by the shareholders and look forward to another five years of collaboration. I am very pleased that together we have found a way to strengthen artistic autonomy. My entire focus can now be purely on my creative work.’
