In memory of Reiner Goldberg!

A few days before his 84th birthday, the Heldentenor Reiner Goldberg died today in Berlin. At the Bayreuth Festival between 1986 and 1994, Reiner Goldberg sang Tannhäuser, both Siegfrieds in the Ring of the Nibelung, Walther von Stolzing and Erik. At his home theatre, the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden, in Paris, New York, London, Milan, Florence, Rome, Zurich, Salzburg, Barcelona, Tokyo, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart and Dresden he appeared in his parade roles of Stolzing, Erik, Siegfried, Tannhäuser, Max and Herod and was stormily celebrated for decades. Other highlights of his career included Aron in Schönberg’s Moses und Aron, Tambourmajor, Berg’s Wozzek and roles in operas by Zemlinsky, Borodin and Dvorak. After his long active career, he passed on his singing technique and stage experience as a sought-after singing teacher until the end. We remember a great artist!
